Career Overview
Animators bring characters, stories and products to life through motion — from cartoons and explainer videos to games, VFX and TV commercials. Sri Lanka has a fast-growing animation industry serving both local advertisers and international studios in the US, UK, Middle East and Australia.
It is a highly creative and technical career where a strong portfolio can beat any degree.
What Does This Career Do?
Animators build storyboards, model characters, rig them, animate scenes frame by frame or with motion capture, add lighting and effects, then render final shots. They work in 2D (Adobe Animate, Toon Boom) or 3D (Maya, Blender, Cinema 4D) and often collaborate with sound designers and directors.
