Career Overview

An Attorney-at-Law in Sri Lanka is a fully qualified legal professional entitled to practise in all courts. Lawyers advise clients, draft legal documents, appear in courts, and negotiate on behalf of individuals and companies. Sri Lanka's legal profession is regulated by the Supreme Court and the Sri Lanka Law College (SLLC).

Admission is via passing the SLLC examinations OR by holding an LLB (from University of Colombo, OUSL, or an approved foreign university) and completing the SLLC apprenticeship. Lawyers can specialise in areas like civil, criminal, commercial, family, intellectual property, or international law.
